Half Track Tractor Trials. Unusual Designs

Half Track Tractor! Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? This crazy design first appeared in London in 1941 due to O. Singer’s idea. George Monroe Limited company in Hertfordshire implemented this idea a year later.

The designer’s goal was to reduce ground pressure and, in parallel, to prevent the tractor from getting stuck on the road in muddy swampy areas. The designer was also of the opinion that having the rear wheels on tracks increased the power of the tractor. The company could not achieve any results after nearly 25 years of development on this idea, and in 1967 it gave up investing in this R&D process and continued to focus on 4-wheeled tractors.
